SCOTCH VERDICT (WT) - wrapped
It's a wrap! After 34 days of shooting in Scotland and North Rhine-Westphalia, the final scene of SCOTCH VERDICT (AT) has been shot at Bavaria Studios in Cologne.
Produced by Heimatfilm and co-produced by Dschoint Ventschr and Sylph Productions, SCOTCH VERDICT (AT) is the new film by Sophie Heldman, which takes us back to the early 19th century in Scotland.
Based on the book of the same name by renowned American historian and author Lillian Faderman, the film tells the true story of two women who found a girls' school in Edinburgh in the early 19th century. Jane Pirie and Marianne Woods dream of a self-determined life and education for all. They find themselves at the centre of a scandal when an alleged love affair between them is made public and brought to court. A captivating drama about slander, prejudice and the courage to stand up for the truth.
Kate Reid's camera captured performances by Flora Nicholson, Clare Dunne, Fiona Shaw and Mia Tharia, among others. Supported by: Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, DFFF. In cooperation with: WDR/ARTE (commissioning editor Andrea Hanke)
farbfilm verleih will release the film in German cinemas, with Global Screen handling international sales.
